Indigo & Rust Red Ajrakh Shawl | Oversized Cotton Scarf

Indigo & Rust Red Ajrakh Shawl | Oversized Cotton Scarf
Style Note
Deep indigo meets warm rust red in this oversized hand block printed Ajrakh shawl. Style tip: fold it in half, drape it over your shoulders and let the tassels fall, then pair it with a simple black top and tailored trousers so the pattern does the talking.
This is a one-off treasured find. An exclusive piece created by Sufiyan Ismail Khatri - a 10th generation master artisan widely respected for his guardianship of the ancient craft of Ajrakh. Buying from this collection means supporting a living tradition and the artisan who carries it forward.
Soft, light and generously sized at 44" x 92" (approx. 112 x 234 cm), this shawl is made to be worn your way. Wrap it twice around your neck as a scarf, open it out as a wrap, or layer it over a coat when the weather turns.
A rust red central panel of medallions and florals is framed by chevron and hexagon borders, with rows of leaf motifs against a deep indigo ground. Rust red tassels, hand-knotted along the edges, add movement and a relaxed finish.

The Craft
Ajrakh is one of the world's oldest textile traditions, a block printing art form with centuries of history. These shawls and scarves are made exclusively by Sufiyan Ismail Khatri, a 10th generation master artisan from the Kutch region of Gujarat. Each piece goes through a 16-step process of block printing, resist dyeing, washing and resting the cloth, which demands patience, precision and a deep knowledge of craft. He is widely respected as a guardian of Ajrakh, working to keep this ancient craft alive for future generations.
