These days accessorising a bathroom with beautiful towels is as important as choosing the fittings. Not only do towels add style and texture, they accentuate focal points in your bathroom adding layers of interest to make your bath times special. After all, where else can you grab a moment of privacy, escape from the outside world and indulge in some pampering!  With the right styling, towels can make all the difference when it comes to personalising your style. If you're looking to refresh your bathroom interior, here's how to style your bathroom with artisan towels.

Artisan trends are all the rage this year. They're everywhere, with global influences, nomadic designs and raw weaves that add texture and a well travelled vibe to interiors.  So what better time than to update your bathroom than with our range of peshtemals by Lukslinen to add colour and a touch of wanderlust. Lukslinen produce ethically made,  hand loomed Turkish Peshtemals by Turkish master weavers. Endlessly versatile and lifetime lasting, every purchase supports small business and the preservation of a centuries old craft.

1) First Things First - Declutter

If you're anything like me, a cluttered home makes me feel stressed.  A busy bathroom packed to the hilt with bottles and toiletries is not conducive to a relaxing soak. The mind needs to unwind and clattering bottles that fall into your bathwater when you're just getting into the moment somewhat spoils the experience.

Here's what to do; Throw away what you don't use, minimise what's on display and only keep what you use on a daily basis visible. I like to place skincare and body care on shelves in a symmetrical or asymmetrical pyramid shape. Yes like in a spa! This not only creates space for the mind but looks beautiful. Keep surfaces clear or minimal and store everything else away from sight. More importantly, ensure you've got room around the bath, so you can light a couple of luxury candles and create an ambient atmosphere.

The Spa Roll

One way of styling your bathroom with artisan towels is by rolling them. Have you ever noticed when you've gone to a spa or a hotel that the towels are rolled? This is a great trick when you have minimal space or you don't have somewhere where you can actually hang your towels like a towel rail or hook. Our peshtemals fold up small and look great when placed in storage trays, baskets or on shelves. With so many weave designs and colours to choose from, peshtemals can be used as a welcoming accessory to draw attention to the bath area or as a splash of colour that enhances your bathroom decor. Roll peshtemals and stack in sets of three with alternating colours for maximum style impact!

Folded Towels

There are so many ways to fold a towel, but we're not talking Origami here. Let's leave the kitsch swan fold to the hotels who do it best! One of the easiest ways to store and display your freshly laundered towels is simply by folding. Stacking in sets of three or five if you're short of space, is best visually, keeps them within easy reach and adds texture and layering to the overall space.

Accessorise

Placing relevant accessories by towels is also one way of creating that polished, luxury, style element. So for the guys it could be as easy as placing shaving cream and a shaving brush by folded towels on shelving to add a functional look that's pleasing to the eye.  For the ladies, a beautifully packaged luxury bath oil with a body moisturiser placed by folded (or rolled) towels just screams bath time!

Hanging Peshtemal Towels

Hanging towels is probably the best way of ensuring they dry quickly whilst showing off their handwoven designs at the same time.  Our summer collection of peshtemals brighten up even the most dull bathrooms. With sumptuous textures and hand-knotted fringing, these fast - drying companions will wow visiting guests and make your daily shower feel spa worthy. Available in a variety of summer stripes and diamond weaves reminiscent of beach retreats and country idylls, these peshtemals add sophistication.

There are numerous ways to hang towels in the bathroom. You can hang on staggered hooks on the door or wall for a less formal look, with space in between to avoid them looking messy and cluttered. If you've got a full house of people, a mixture of hanging, folded and rolled solves the problem of which towel is which and saves space. If you've got a towel rail, this is a great way to hang towels in different lengths and colours to add formality and tie in with the decor. For a neutral bathroom, I love adding a splash of colour by choosing vibrant towels such as the Damla Peshtemal that comes in teal, orange and olive green. For those with limited space, freestanding bathroom ladders in natural materials such as a bamboo and wood work well and add instant spa appeal. Finally, sometimes something as simple as draping a towel over the bath edge or a chair is all you need to draw the eye and highlight your much loved freestanding rolled bath.

Stylish Storage

Transform your bathroom by adding stylish storage solutions. Laundry baskets are the first practical thing we think of, but they're often overlooked when it comes to style. Choosing an appropriately sized laundry basket that fits your space and is visually beautiful, can add a wonderful design statement to your bathroom interior. Baskets and open trays are also a great way of organising linens, decluttering toiletries and keeping things tidy, especially on open shelving. If you're looking for some inspiration, Artisanne do a beautiful and extensive range of handwoven baskets made by Senegalese artisans. Set up by two sisters, Elizabeth and Emma, the baskets come directly from weavers. There are no middlemen and the techniques used to create the designs are traditional basket making skills handed down from mother to daughter. We love that their woven from local ndiorokh grass, empower local artisans and are beautifully designed.
