The Art of Shibori

Shibori is a 1300-year-old tie-dye technique developed in Japan involving the folding and clamping of fabric before dyeing. Supposedly introduced by Nobel Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore, in the early 20th century,  our scarves have been handcrafted by a cluster of Self Help Groups in rural Rajasthan. This provides 400 marginalised women with training, regular income, fair pay and a financial independence. Read the inspiring story behind the scarves and how one former child bride turned her struggle into a social enterprise.
